Excuse me, sorry to interrupt, but...
Now is the time to get a hold of next month's book + something special!
I am enjoying February’s Stories and Stitches book, What We Sow by Jennifer Jewell. Are you?
I am looking forward to our book discussion this Friday, February 28, 2025 at 11 AM CST. Be sure you are subscribed to the Resilient Nurturer Substack. Subscribers will receive the Zoom link to attend the book discussion.
Who is crocheting along? Are you stuck? Is your project smooth sailing? What colors did you choose for this month’s square?
This Saturday marks the beginning of March. Can you believe it? Today was the first day of warm sunshine that will carry us right into proper spring with no more days below freezing. I ran outside between meetings today to put my tomato and pepper starts in the ground. Nobody could see my muddy knees on Zoom meetings, so no harm, no foul.
This also means Saturday kicks off a new book. And, I will admit, I have cheated on this one. I have already read it. My signed copy of Will Harris’ book titled A Bold Return to Giving a Damn was a must-read for me the minute it was published. I have appreciated Will’s approach to sharing his experiences over the years. He is honest and vulnerable and shares his mistakes on his journey to success. He makes regenerative farming feel relatable, possible, and fun while keeping it real. He is one of the most community-minded people I have ever met. When standing in the middle of Bluffton, Georgia, all of your senses pick up on the fact that holistic decision-making - which considers financial, social, and environmental impacts as a whole - has been applied by the Harris’ at every turn to benefit the WHOLE COMMUNITY!
I had the good fortune to present at a conference hosted by his nonprofit, Center for Agricultural Resilience at White Oak Pastures last March, and he and his nonprofit team, as well as his family and team at White Oak Pastures, are incredible, lovely, down-to-earth folks. I chose the timing of this book on purpose, as it just felt right for me to reread the book again before April. You see, something great is happening in April, and you will not want to miss this opportunity!
My nonprofit, Fearless Farmers, hosts week-long intensives in partnership with communities centered around regeneration. During the week of April 14th, we will be hosting an intensive at White Oak Pastures. Check out details at fearlessfarmers.org. The transformative weeks are filled with laughter, connection, reflection, and hands-on learning from subject matter experts. Once you read Will’s book, I imagine you might think it would be really great to spend a week with our Fearless Farmers education crew and Will and his team too. Are you interested in learning more? I am always happy to hop on a call. Bluffton, Georgia is beautiful in the spring. Join me!
For our Fearless Farmers intensives, we chase the sun, but we don’t get too close. You won’t see us host an intensive in the summer in Arizona or in Wisconsin in winter. We carefully curate the experiences so that folks will learn the most from the growing season in full swing! Can’t make it to White Oak Pastures? No problem. How about Hyde Park, New York in May or Ashland, Ohio in June?
Grab your copy of Will’s book so you will be ready to kick off book club in March first thing Saturday!
Love, Amy
